Dinky Pictures is an award-wining production company founded by Tracy Droz Tragos. We produce both narratives and documentaries that tell personal, intimate stories with a focused perspective, giving voice to people, families and circumstances that otherwise would go unnoticed.
SANDRA KEATS, Consulting Producer
Sandra Keats is an independent documentary film and television producer, whose work focuses largely on social and environmental issues, both in the U.S. and abroad. Sandra co-produced the Participant Media feature documentary Misconception, exploring the personal side of global population issues, which was her second collaboration with Academy Award-winning director Jessica Yu and Oscar-nominated producer Elise Pearlstein (Food, Inc.) for Participant Media. The film premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.
Sandra most recently worked alongside award-winning director Lauren Greenfield, producing the 2016 ASME Award-nominated online documentary short Magic City, about Atlanta’s most famous strip club for GQ magazine, as well as line producing on two of Greenfield’s upcoming international feature documentaries, Wealth and Fantasy Island (working titles). She also co-produced the 2012 Sundance Audience Award-winning documentary short The Debutante Hunters about female game hunters in South Carolina and produced and directed the short documentary Diana about famed marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, which was the most-watched documentary on Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia’s web series, WIGS Unscripted. Prior to that, Sandra was the associate producer on Participant Media’s feature documentary Last Call at the Oasis, which turned a lens on the domestic water crisis. The film premiered at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival and was distributed by ATO Pictures in 2012.
Sandra was an associate producer of the IDA Award-nominated documentary series In Their Boots, which looked at the impact of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on service members and their families. She has also produced on television docu-series for the Sundance Channel and Travel Channel, as well as doc-style commercials for Ford, Toyota, Hallmark, and Always.
Sandra is currently line producing on the feature documentary Eating Animals, based on Jonathan Safran Foer’s critically acclaimed book. The film is directed by Christopher Quinn and produced by Safran Foer and Natalie Portman, and is expected to premiere Fall 2016.
Dan Duran, CO-Producer
Dan Duran is a documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. Multifaceted in documentary production, Dan has shot, produced, and edited various documentaries nationally and internationally, including countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Ghana, London, Italy, and Tanzania. Dan’s documentaries have been nominated for IDA and ASC awards, featured on Vimeo Staff Picks, broadcasted on PBS, and premiered at films festivals across the country including SXSW, Tribeca, and Full Frame. Dan currently produces and edits feature documentary films and has worked with production companies that include Participant Media, National Geographic WILD, and HBO Documentary Films. Whether his docs are used for the non-profit sector or the simple joy of telling a compelling story, Dan strives to be a voice and platform with his films. Dan Duran is a graduate of Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, where he earned a BFA in TV & Broadcast Journalism.
